I tear up at movies, funerals, weddings, and sometimes when I read about Dale. But of all the dumb things to tear up over, I did when I read that not only Dale but his sisters as well liked the Peanuts joke. I always send those jokes just hoping for possibly a smile in your son. Thank you for sharing that, your comment definitely made my day.
As I read your blogs, I cannot help but notice that even in setbacks, Dale seems to be progressing. The fact that the kids treat him like a regular guy is great.
Here is a joke for Dale:

There was this tiger that woke up one morning and just felt great (yes, just like Tony the Tiger). Anyway, he felt so good, he went out and cornered a small monkey and roared at him, "WHO IS THE MIGHTIEST OF ALL THE JUNGLE ANIMALS?" And the poor quaking little monkey replied, "You are of course, no one is mightier than you."
A little while later the tiger confronted a deer, and bellowed out, "WHO IS THE GREATEST AND STRONGEST OF ALL THE JUNGLE ANIMALS?" The deer shook so hard it could barely speak, but managed to stammer, "Oh great tiger, you are by far the mightiest animal in the jungle."
The tiger, being on a roll, swaggered up to an elephant who was quietly munching on some weeds, and roared at the top of his voice: "WHO IS THE MIGHTIEST OF ALL THE ANIMALS IN THE JUNGLE?"
Well, the elephant grabbed the tiger with his trunk, picked him up, slammed him down; picked him up again, and shook him until the tiger was just a blur of orange and black and finally threw him violently into a nearby tree. The tiger staggered to his feet and looked at the elephant and said, "Man, just because you don't know the answer, you don't have to get so mad."Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03749311465929003653noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1005582728855125643.post-45625247874351363962012-04-07T12:54:17.814-07:002012-04-07T12:54:17.814-07:00I am in awe of what God is doing in your son's...I am in awe of what God is doing in your son's and family's life.
I am a person whom once was wondering on this earth blindfolded by much pain, anger and hurt, that I never saw more than my own problems. Not once did I think, others would know what pain was, but now after 4 years of God intervening in my life, I can see that what I thought was true is entirely false.
I owe all that I am and have at this time to Him alone. I pray you continue to find your way along with your son in his own healing journey.
Thank you for sharing your daily struggles and triumphs as well. God bless you.Angel4eternityhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14539384150362861932noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1005582728855125643.post-611379461685483042012-04-07T08:16:43.349-07:002012-04-07T08:16:43.349-07:00When I was teaching, 70% was a C-...letter grades ...When I was teaching, 70% was a C-...letter grades are so variable from school to school, I like to look at he got 20% more than half and I think that is good. With his disability at the moment,for him, a 70% should mean something different....like an A!!!! I am proud to see Dale get a 70% If I were his teacher, I would be ecstatic! I think it is better for Dale to look at the percent, not the letter!!! After all, it is not the letter of the law that matters, but the spirit! Happy Easter to the Ostranders!!mikeguyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04794891264703300250noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1005582728855125643.post-52029977076583236392012-04-06T21:17:03.582-07:002012-04-06T21:17:03.582-07:00Kirsten, my Sister is a 4th grade teacher here in ...Kirsten, my Sister is a 4th grade teacher here in Pensacola, I keep seeing her face when I read your words about school lol. I love that you are talking with Dale about the future, hope is a very powerful tool. I'm so happy that his classmates are treating him as just one of the guys, they are incredible. That light at the end of the tunnel is wonderful isn't it? Dale will persevere, God is merely controlling the time frame. The following is one of my favorite prayers, hope you enjoy it.
Serenity Prayer (the full version, not the version used by AA)

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen. As always, your family is in my prayers, all my best, EricErichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05691895382486312215noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1005582728855125643.post-64070344152212959592012-04-06T20:27:47.638-07:002012-04-06T20:27:47.638-07:00A new pastor was visiting the homes of his parishi...A new pastor was visiting the homes of his parishioners.

At one house it seemed obvious that someone was at home, but no answer came to his repeated knocks at the door. Therefore, he took out a card and wrote "Revelation 3:20" on the back of it and stuck it in the door.

When the offering was processed the following Sunday, he found that his card had been returned. Added to it was this cryptic message, Genesis 3:10."

Reaching for his Bible to check out the citation, he broke up in gales of laughter.

Revelation 3:20 begins "Behold, I stand at the door and knock." Genesis 3:10 reads, "I heard your voice in the garden and I was afraid, for I was naked."Paddyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04691177850897741853noreply@blogger.com
